On his last gig in Dingle there may have been people there who didn’t fully understand what stand up was about. ten minutes into the gig a mountain looking man stood up and shouted “what’s he doing with a microphone”. To this day Tommy is still not sure exactly what he is doing with a microphone. But whatever it is, he will be doing it in this, his second world tour of the county.
Tommy’s mastery of stand-up allows him to take risks other comedians dare not. Through hilarious storytelling and a high energy, non- apologetic delivery he continually challenges his audience who can be confident they are in safe hands. To see Tiernan live is a rare treat, as his stories unfold and themes are elaborated his performance mesmerises as his lyrical way with words make you laugh harder than you’d ever believe possible.
Tommy Tiernan’s brand new DVD “Crooked Man” has been receiving rave reviews from the critics see below some of the highlights:
If there's a more beautiful stand-up DVD out there, we've yet to see it. . It's also refreshing to see a comic put some love into their live DVD, rather than simply churning out another Christmas cash-in. It's beautifully shot and the Irish comic is on spectacularly funny form." – Time Out London
The best of this bunch is Storyteller Tommy Tiernan’s Crooked Man, There’s unlikely to be a more compelling stand-up out there today, with this show giving us all the sides of Tiernan from the hushed conspirator to the firebrand preacher, riffing on childhood, family and a little bit of politics. Pure genius, so it Is - (●●●●●) The List
