The RISE Foundation is delighted to announce that legendary American country/folk singer-songwriter John Prine is coming over from the U.S.A. especially to perform at the RISE Benefit Concert in Dublin’s Vicar Street on May 20th. He will be joining a host of other wonderful artists who will be performing on the night, including: Frances Black, Brian Kennedy, Altan, Paddy Casey, Fiona Prine, Aoife Scott, Róisín O and many more.
The concert is part of The RISE Foundation’s awareness building and fundraising activities for ‘RISE Week 2012’. All the money raised through the RISE Benefit Concert will go directly towards supporting families with loved ones in addiction.
The RISE Foundation is a registered charity founded in 2008 by the well-known singer Frances Black, who was inspired during her own recovery from addiction. The focus is on the families of those in addiction (alcohol, drugs, gambling, food or sex addiction etc.) and our overall aim is for cultural change around addiction in Ireland.
“To support families who have loved ones in addiction, to reduce addiction related harm and to combat the shame and stigma associated with addiction”.
At RISE (Recovery In a Safe Environment), we are dedicated to working towards helping families to free themselves from the heartache of a loved one in addiction, and to rediscover relationships in families lost to addiction.
The RISE Foundation currently runs both 10-week non-residential and 5-day residential Family Programmes with a team of experienced addiction counsellors. We provide individual and group counselling services to people adversely affected by addiction. Our programmes help families understand the nature of addiction, teach self-help mechanisms and assist family members in finding their own recovery. These services are available to people from all communities throughout the island of Ireland.
