DUBLIN’S IVEAGH GARDENS PLAYED HOST TO A GROUNDBREAKING THREE DAY COMEDY EXP
ERIENCE FROM 27th - 29th JULY '07
The Bud Light Revue Comedy Carnival was a fantastic success from the stunning settings of the Iveagh Gardens to the wonderfully talented Irish and International Comedians that graced the stages and the creation of a wonderful comedy experience set in a colourful theatrical atmosphere.
Aiken Promotions and Bud Light® announced the launch of Bud Light Revue in April 2007, a groundbreaking comedy experience, that took place over three days from the 27th to the 29th July 2007 in the stunning setting of the Iveagh Gardens, which are among the finest of Dublin’s parks and gardens and managed by the Commissioners of Public Works.
The Modern Comedy Carnival will play host to over 50 acts, playing more than 40 shows over one colourful weekend. These will be performed in four magnificent, fully-seated, purpose-built marquees including the sumptuous, ‘velvet, wood and stained-glass’ Magic Mirrors Palace, which is being shipped in from Belgium, and the impressive and atmospheric Iveagh Theatre marquee. These have been selected to compliment the unique landscape features of this Secret Walled Garden which include a Rosarium, Archery Grounds, a Rustic Grotto and Cascade, a Maze and Fountain Centre pieces. The Gardens were originally landscaped as part of the International Exhibition of 1865 ‘to afford to the people of Dublin and its neighbourhood national amusement’ and so it is particularly appropriate to realise this vision over 140 years later by establishing a comedy carnival in this historic setting.
Bud Light Revue featured a diverse range of well known, alternative and up-and-coming Irish and International talent, including Tommy Tiernan, Des Bishop, Emo Philips, Keith Barry, Jason Byrne, PJ Gallagher, Neil Delamere, David O’ Doherty, Maeve Higgins, Reg D. Hunter, Adam Hills, Colin Murphy, Guy Pratt, We Are Klang, Reggie Watts, Stevie Hughes, John Shuttleworth, Simon Munnery and many more. It also featured a kaleidoscopic array of performance artists, side-shows, attractions, good food and refreshments in a vibrant, carnivalesque surrounding.
Festival Director, Bren Berry, Aiken Promotions said ‘Comedy is a vital part of Irish culture and Aiken Promotions are proud of our close association with live comedy. We are delighted to present a new type of event to Irish comedy fans in the wonderful setting of The Iveagh Gardens and look forward to what will be a very exciting, unique event particularly at a time when Irish comedy is at such a creative high.’
