Passenger & Beoga - Iveagh Gardens, Dublin
With special guests BEOGA
Iveagh Gardens, Dublin
Sunday 23 July 2017.
With his hit single “Let Her Go” reaching over a staggering one billion you tube views to date, Ivor Novello winning singer songwriter Passenger (aka Mike Rosenberg) has just announced a prestigious Iveagh Gardens, Dublin show for Sunday 23rd July 2017 following his two spectacular sold-out shows at Vicar St last weekend.
Passengers 8th and latest studio album ‘Young As The Morning Old As The Sea’ sees Mike once again co-produced alongside Chris Vallejo (INXS, Empire of the Sun). Written alongside an incredible band of musicians – Ben Edgar (guitar), Rob Clader (bass), Peter Marin (drums) Jon Solo (keys) – the exquisite songcraft and distinctive delivery remain as before; thoroughly down to earth, with the mix of genuine humility and self-deprecating humour that is so evident in his onstage performances.
“I’ve done pretty much an album a year for the last decade,” says Mike, “and the worry is that you don’t live with things for long enough. I know the most recent record is probably always my favourite, but I honestly feel this is the first time I can play the new record to people and not feel obliged to make excuses. I’m so proud of it.”
The ten tracks on the record reflect on relationships and the passing of time, with stories that are at once both personal and universal. Passengers current single from the Number One album is the exquisitely crafted ‘When We Were Young’, Watch the official video here - https://youtu.be/hef9UEHQisY Laced with soaring strings and weaving a delicate story, ‘When We Were Young’ is at once powerfully engaging and universally relatable. It is the third single to be taken from the stunning new album, which fought off competition from Shawn Mendes and Bruce Springsteen to top the album charts in the UK, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand (with a further five top ten album chart positions around the world). It’s an astonishing achievement for Mike Rosenberg, whose dedicated engagement with fans, from busking on the streets to playing shows all over the world, is unparalleled. On October 26th Mike live streamed a performance from the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam on YouTube, Facebook and Periscope in the first multi-platform streaming event of its kind.
