Mick Flannery & John Spillane

Live @ Vicar Street - Friday 30th April 2010

On sale Mon Feb 15th @ 9am!

Reuniting again after their storming performance at the Marquee in Cork over the summer are Cork Singer Songwriters, John Spillane and Mick Flannery.

Meant to be a one off, a collaborative show in Glasgow months later saw the two having such a great time that the suggestion became why not play together again?

This time the venue is set to be the atmospheric Vicar Street on April 30th and promises to engage and entertain as these diverse acts come together once more. Tickets are €28 on sale next Monday Feb 15th @ 9am through Ticketmaster and other usual outlets nationwide. Booking Line: 0818 719 390.

Last year Mick Flannery was nominated for the Choice album awards, was cited as ‘Most Promising Newcomer' by Hotpress readers (also making it into their 250 best irish albums) and won ‘Best Male' at the Meteor Awards. And yet he remains unaffected by such positive press, shying away from the spotlight.

Flannery is a refreshingly unassuming artist whos sole focus seems to be on his craft, song-writing. A Mick Flannery gig has a feeling of intimacy to it, Flannery's stage presence exudes no superficial gimmicks, just a man sharing his songs in an understated but powerful manner.

The year 2009 was more than a successful year for Flannery with two sold out Vicar Street shows, a re-release of his platinum selling critically acclaimed album White Lies and collaborations with Kate Walsh, John Spillane and more. Who knows what 2010 has in store...

Twice winner of the meteor award in the best folk/trad category, John Spillane has toured the country and the world spreading joy with a mix of melodic tunes, entertaining stories and poetic lyrics.

Described as ‘one of the truest Irish voices of his generation' by Irish music magazine, Spillane truly embodies the Celtic spirit.

Last year saw Spillane release his first best of album ‘So Far So Good, Like'. This compiled some of his greatest works from the memorable anthems of ‘The Dance of the Cherry Trees' and ‘Dunnes Stores Girl' to songs from ‘The Gaelic Hit Factory' and ‘Irish songs we learned at school'.

With 2009 being a stellar year for the man with boundless enthusiasm for his craft its doubtful that 2010 will be much different!

The only thing that's for sure is that whether from the emotive tunes he whisks you on a journey with or his dynamic playful Cork wit, at the end of a John Spillane show there won't be a dry eye in the house...
